Mississauga property types
Mississauga has more variety than most buyers realise — from Square One condo towers to large-lot freehold detached in Lorne Park.
Mississauga condos
The Square One area in Mississauga's City Centre is Southern Ontario's most active condo development zone outside of downtown Toronto. Towers from the 1990s through the present line Hurontario Street and the roads surrounding the mall. Price per square foot is substantially below comparable Toronto condo buildings, making Mississauga condos attractive to first-time buyers and investors who can't afford Toronto's downtown market.
The Hurontario LRT, under construction along the corridor, is expected to boost values along the condo strip when it opens expected 2028 — no firm date confirmed as of early 2026. Port Credit also has a smaller cluster of condo buildings near the GO station and waterfront, which command a premium over City Centre product due to the neighbourhood's character and transit access.

Detached homes in Mississauga span from entry-level postwar bungalows in Malton and parts of Meadowvale to significant waterfront-adjacent estates in Lorne Park and Port Credit. The freehold market is dominated by 1960s through 1990s construction in most of the city, with newer builds in outer areas. Lorne Park stands apart as Mississauga's most prestigious neighbourhood for detached homes, with large lots and prices that reflect it.
A key advantage for buyers coming from Toronto: no Toronto Municipal Land Transfer Tax. On a $1 million purchase, the Toronto MLTT would add over $16,000 to closing costs. In Mississauga, you pay only the Ontario provincial LTT, which is significantly less.

Townhomes are the volume product in Mississauga's mid-market. Freehold and condo townhomes are distributed throughout the city, with concentrations in Erin Mills, Meadowvale, and the Hurontario corridor. They represent the most accessible way into the freehold market for buyers who can't reach detached pricing. Newer builds near the Hurontario LRT corridor have been attracting attention from buyers who expect transit-oriented values to rise.
